The Explorama jungle Lodges are a series of four lodges that step away from the luxurious lodging and delve into the beauty and richness of the jungle in its natural state. All Explorama lodges begin their adventure at the airport, where a multilingual guide will meet visitors and quickly overview the city and the excursion. Explorama visitors will be shuttled from the airport to the Explorama dock, where each adventure will sail on its own. Most adventures begin their cruise with a stop at the Explorama lodge, the closest lodge to Iquitos and the most advanced of the natural jungle lodges.
Each of these lodges has its own recommended excursion program, that usually involved a 5day/4 night adventure, which travels to at least two of the four Explorama lodges. With each lodge offering its own unique rainforest experience, AR tourism recommends that you take that 5 day cruise departing from the Explorama lodge, and travel to all 4 jungle lodges along the way.
The Explorama Lodge
After arriving in Iquitos airport, guides will hold a brief orientation and welcome, and then quickly transfer guests to the Explorama dock, where a boat will take you 50 miles down the Amazon to the Yanamono stream, where the Explorama Lodge is located. A more nature-oriented jungle lodge, Explorama is filled with romantic kerosene torches and lamps, mosquito-netted beds to protect from insects, and palm covered walkways that lead to the bar and hammock house. The Tahuampa Bar is usually stashed with local musicians who will play for your entertainment as you relax and enjoy the scenery and atmosphere around you. Bilingual guides will also share tales of the Amazon with you, as you prepare for one of the many offered excursions either down-river to another Explorama lodge or a hike along the nature trail of the Amazon.
The Explorama Series
The Explorama Lodge is just one of a series of Explorama jungle lodges located along the Amazon River. From this lodge, one can depart on a boat cruise to the other four lodges, traveling through the "Heart of the Amazon" Lodge, the "Pure Rainforest" Adventure, and the "Canopy Walkway" adventure along the Amazon.
Meals at each of the Explorama Lodges are buffet style, with fresh Amazon river fish as a daily premiere entrée of the night. Buffet selection always includes fruits, pastries, a meat, a fish to accommodate all appetites.
