The Cordillera Blanca Trekking Overview
The Valley of Callejon de Huaylas has some of the best places for mountain trekking and climbing. Because of this most travelers here have more experience with this type of adventure travel. The typical landscape is filled with glaciers, turquoise lakes, blue skies, and sweeping valleys, making it a refreshing escape into a pristine wilderness.
Treks range from a one-day excursion to 3, and even longer day routes. The best time to go is from May to September during the dry season. Huarez, the base camp for the Cordillera Blanca, is the recommended place to spend a few days getting acclimated to the altitude before going on a trek.
