The Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Dina Boluarte, and the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Alicia Barcena met on Monday to coordinate actions aimed at reducing poverty, hunger, malnutrition and anemia.

The meeting also discussed measures to ensure the well-being of those who need it most.

“We appreciate the visit of the Executive Secretary of ECLAC to the headquarters of Midis, from where we are helping vulnerable people with the Yanapay Support Grant (Aid) and the delivery of food to community kitchens, we seek to empower women, between other actions to give them access to basic services and extend the coverage of social programs ”, explained the Minister.

ECLAC Executive Secretary Alicia Barcena praised the work Midis has done to overcome the impact of COVID-19.

She also announced that ECLAC will provide technical support to the sector to develop a social observatory – with a multidimensional approach – in order to identify people who need basic state services and, thus, to extend coverage. social programs, as well as achieving financial and productive inclusion.

On the technical level, ECLAC will also contribute to strengthening the assistance provided to collective kitchens.

In addition, Barcena commended Midis for creating the unique registration system for community kitchens “Mankachay Peru”, as it means that the state recognizes the efforts of women leaders to fight hunger.

In addition, she proposed joint action with Midis to create a basic digital basket for households in rural areas, so that they have technological devices with Internet access to access digital services in areas such as health. , education, among others, towards achieving their development.
