approved a set of extraordinary measures to finance actions that allow the reactivation of the tourism sector on a national scale.

Due to the emergence of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Peru, there is greater ease of transmission. Thus, the situation of the activities of tourist guides is worsening.

Despite the efforts made by the State – concerning the increase in the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 – the probability of a third wave leads the Government to adopt actions aimed at countering the negative impacts of the pandemic.

Faced with this situation, “it is necessary to dictate extraordinary measures, in economic and financial matters, which allow (the Government) to continue the reactivation and promotion of the activities of the tourist sector”, indicates the regulation.

In this sense, the aforementioned portfolio is authorized to grant competitive subsidies in favor of tourist guides registered in the National Register of Official Tourism Guides and of license holders registered with the ministry.

In addition, the publication of the strategy to reactivate and boost tourism “Directing tourism towards reactivation” is established within 10 working days. It sets the conditions for awarding competitive grants.

At the same time, the transfer of S / 32 million (approximately US $ 8 million) to Mincetur is authorized, which will finance the aforementioned grants.

“The head of the ministry is responsible for its proper implementation, as well as for the use and destination of the resources committed,” says the document.
