Peru, the world’s gourmet pantry takes part in the 2021 fruit attraction | Business

From October 5 to 7, one of the most important fairs of the agricultural sector, Fruit Attraction, returns in its format in person and Peru will be part of this edition, as detailed by the Peru Promotion Commission for Exports and the tourism – PROMPERÚ.

The delegation will be made up of 16 co-presenters and fruit and vegetable guilds seeking to boost exports on the European market. In addition to the institutional presentation, it is estimated that 30 other Peruvian companies, between exporters and service providers in the sector, will visit the fair.

Fruit Attraction will bring together the entire fruit and vegetable community in one place and the flagship product of this edition is avocado. Peru is recognized as the world’s second largest exporter of avocados and is the main supplier of the Hass variety in Europe.

For this edition, Peru will participate in a series of spaces, such as the Chef’s Factory, where avocado and chilli-based recipes will be presented. The presentation will be moderated by Peruvian chef Miguel Ángel Valdiviezo and chili expert Anilú Cigueñas; as well as a purchasing program, which will encourage European companies to discover the Peruvian offer.

The South American country will participate in the Fruit Attraction LIVE Connect virtual platform, one of the major novelties of this edition, which will last one year to strengthen visibility, brand recognition and the opportunity to network, as well as provide access to specialized content. , etc.

Peruvian avocado at Fruit Attraction

The cultivation of avocado in Peru takes place on the coast of the country, La Libertad being the main producing region; however, international sourcing has been integrated, in an organized and sustainable manner, of high quality avocado, in the central and southern regions of the country: Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica and Junín.

Avocado was the main product of non-traditional Peruvian agro-export supplies in the first half of 2021. In 2020, the Netherlands was the main destination for Peruvian shipments of this superfood to the world, followed by the United States and the Spain.

Besides avocado, the other priority products in this edition of the show will be mango, asparagus, grapes, cranberries, organic bananas, pomegranate, onion and ginger.
