Peru wins four accolades at the 2021 World Travel Awards | News | ANDEAN

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Peruvian Export Promotion and Tourism Office (PromPeru) proudly announced that our country has won four World Travel Awards in the South American region.

The categories in which Peru has prevailed are as follows:

• First culinary destination in South America 2021.

• First cultural destination in South America 2021.

• Main tourist attraction of South America 2021: Machu Picchu.

• First South American tourism office 2021: PromPeru.

“The prizes awarded to our country reaffirm Peru’s tourist positioning in the world as a destination based on a vast cultural and natural wealth, in addition to highlighting the magnificence of Machu Picchu as a leading tourist destination in the region and (PromPérou) as a leading government agency in the promotion of tourism, ”said Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sanchez.
The awards were presented – in an emotional and symbolic event – at the Peruvian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai in the presence of PromPeru Executive President Amora Carbajal and World Travel Awards founder Graham Cooke.

The South American version of the awards is just the start as the WTA Global Awards will take place in Moscow, Russia on November 26.

For this event, Peru also won several important nominations. Thus, everyone is invited to renew their participation by voting for the Inca country in the competition of the world category:

The World Travel Awards serve to recognize and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.

It should be noted that the distinctions were awarded as part of the symbolic inauguration of the Peruvian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
