Thursday said his administration aims for private investments made with transparency, clear rules and respect for workers.

When signing the tender contract for the new passenger terminal at Jorge Chavez International Airport, the president predicted that this work will position Peru as the main tourist and logistics center in the region.

“This expansion involves an investment of US $ 1.2 billion by private companies for the benefit of all; we are aiming for private investment, but with transparency, clear rules and respect for workers, ”he said.

Mr. Castillo mentioned that during the first 61 days of his tenure, his administration responded to many demands from the population, but did not rule out major infrastructure and connectivity works.

In addition, he prioritized the modernization of ports and airports to promote tourism.

The Peruvian leader noted that the Jorge Chavez International Airport is of major importance, given that it is the main point of entry into the country and that it has been, in recent years, a cornerstone of the economic recovery and the fight against the pandemic, as he managed all vaccine shipments from abroad.

As a result, he said, the current administration has taken over the expansion project for the country’s main airport, which has generated 2,200 jobs.

According to the senior official, 3,500 jobs will be created with the construction of the new passenger terminal, making the airport and port of Callao the main transport and logistics hubs.

“It will be the region’s first air hub,” he said.
