SKY Peru increases its domestic and international flights


Since landing on Peruvian national territory in November 2019, SKY Airline has consolidated its position as the country’s second largest airline. On the eve of the year-end peak season, the company has increased its domestic and international operations to achieve a total recovery of 82.2%, from pre-pandemic levels.

During the last vacation in the Andean country, SKY carried more than 20,000 travelers between October 29 and November 2, demonstrating a healthy recovery in the domestic market.

The company owns six Airbus A320neo based in Lima (LIM), registered CC-AZR, CC-AZM, CC-AZL, CC-AZI, CC-AZD and CC-AZC. The low-cost carrier plans to reach up to nine devices before the end of the year. The plane has a capacity of 186 passengers, offering 186,600 seats per month domestically from December, while for international traffic it will offer 37,600 seats from January.

In August 2021, according to the latest data obtained by Aviacionline via the Peruvian DGAC, it had transported 787,018 passengers on the national territory, representing a market share of 17.81%, positioning it as the second most important company in the country. Internationally, it carried 41,053 passengers; traffic has been at a standstill for most of the year due to health restrictions in its major destinations.

Driven by a sustained recovery, the low-cost carrier announced an increase in its operations until November. Cusco and Arequipa have been the most popular destinations, however, other cities in its network are starting to play a prominent role.

International destinations

The company currently operates flights to Santiago de Chile (SCL) and Cancun (CUN) in Mexico; on December 14, he will add Buenos Aires / Ezeiza (EZE), in Argentina, and Punta Cana (PUJ), in the Dominican Republic, from January 3, 2022.

In the United States, the airline plans to launch flights to Miami (MIA), Orlando (AGC), or Fort Lauderdale (FLL), although this will depend on how current demand evolves.
