WFP has launched the second season of the radio soap opera “La Sangre Llama”. It is a social and behavioral change strategy broadcast on five local radio stations in Sechura. The program promotes healthy eating habits and provides advice to parents.
WFP’s PROSAN project organized fairs on integral health and nutrition in coordination with the local municipalities of Rinconada Llicuar and Bellavista in Sechura. Children 0-59 months were able to access primary health care services, while local small farmers were able to sell their produce directly.
The WFP country director was invited to the forum “Towards a law on food relief” organized by the National Congress. WFP shared its food rescue experience linked to its logistics support operation.
WFP is continuing its logistics operation in coordination with the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI for its Spanish acronym) and the Food Bank of Peru. Between January and November 2021, WFP provided transport services for the distribution of approximately 8,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid across the country.
